CASUAL CREW
We are looking for casual helpers for Smuggler ‘08 between
Monday 4 August – Friday 8 August 2008.
Can you spare 1 or 2 days to help out with activities for the county explorer and
senior section members event of the year ?
We need people with all sorts of skills check out the website

Cost is £5.00 per day which will cover your food
and Scarf and Smuggler badge.
Go on be brave and bold come and join
the Smuggler fun for a couple of days.
Smuggler Crew is the Service team that with your help will make Smuggler 08 happen. We are very intrested in help from any Scouters, Guiders, Network and over 18 senior section members.
Or any other adults with suitable References and happy to complete a Scout association CRB check.
Smuggler crew experience can be used towards your D of E award or Queens Scout or Guide residentials.
We also welcome anybody that can only commit to one or more days help before during or after the event please get in touch with admin.
The Smuggler Crew has places in the following areas:
Site Safety and Welfare (Over 21’s)
Site safety and welfare is a little bit of everything so has something for everybody. The role of the team is to keep the site safe so includes the following duties:
Carrying out risk assesments
First Aid
Info Point
Safety marshalling entertainment
Fire and Incident team
Car Parking
Manning the main gate
If you care about safety of the young people and making sure everyone has a fantastic time at smuggler '08 this is definately the role for you. We will also be covering the folllowing jobs for the entertainment team
A team of people to carry out a range of duties, both during the day and through the evening. A willingness to do anything essential! Some marshalling work may be necessary as may some unsociable hours. No experience necessary.
A small and dedicated team is required to secure the Entertainment venues and equipment during the night.
“SCRAGS” Site services (Over 18s)
Fancy a week up to your armpits in rubbish, waste water and the loos?? Then SCRAGS is for you - that's Sanitation Cleaning Refuse and General Services. During the camp we will be ensuring that everyone has a healthy, clean environment and we will be providing and maintaining the infrastructure of the site. We also need help before the camp with small marquees and setting up the facilities including water and electrics - and of course afterwards taking it all down again. If you can help for some or all the time we want to hear from YOU. Hard work with loads of fun guaranteed!!!!!!

Entertainment (Over 18s) Roles Below
· Street Entertainers (ENT-SE)
People who are able to juggle, Diablo, stilt walk and balloon model etc are wanted to work in the Venue Arena during the evenings, demonstrating and sharing their skill with the participants.
· Soft Rock Cafe Crew Member (ENT-SRC)
People required to work on a shift pattern to serve drinks and keep the cafe area clean and tidy. No experience necessary but basic mental calculation ability, a sense of humour and common sense!
· Food Venue Crew Members (ENT-FV)
Volunteers required working on a day / evening shift pattern in the food venues on site. A basic Food Hygiene Certificate considered a bonus! Experience preferred but not essential!
· Technical Crew Members (ENT-TC)
Technical staff are required during the build period and during the event itself, working days and evenings as required in the different venues. Experience and technical knowledge essential.
All vacancies require Smuggler crewf to be on Site from 2nd – 9th August and some roles may require some extended cover either side of the event,
The Smuggler Crew cost will be £40 including food, a T shirt and Scarf. But you will need to supply your own tent.
